The 2021 European Aquatics Championships, held in Budapest, Hungary, brought together Europe’s best swimmers, divers, and water polo teams for a celebration of aquatic excellence. Hosted at the iconic Duna Arena, the event showcased thrilling performances and reaffirmed Budapest's status as a premier venue for international aquatic sports.
We developed background visuals aligned with the event’s brand guidelines, incorporating dynamic motion graphics for player introductions and transition wishes. These elements were designed to strengthen the event's visual identity and create a cohesive and engaging atmosphere.
LED Installations
One of the most interesting elements of the event was the collection of custom LED installations, particularly the cylindrical player entrance. The structure was designed to display the players' countries on a world map, drawing inspiration from classic equirectangular map projections and creating a visually striking introduction sequence.
Venue Adaptation
As with most major swimming competitions, all visual content had to be prepared for both sides of the pool. This was necessary to accommodate the different race configurations, particularly the short-distance events, as well as the varying LED setups used throughout the venue.
