Borka and the Magic Dress follows the journey of a young girl who, through her magical dress, glimpses moments from her ancestors' lives. These visions offer her guidance and wisdom as she navigates the challenges of growing up. The first 13-episode season is complete, and the next 13 episodes are in development.
We handled the complete production, including art direction and extensive R&D to determine the most visually impactful approach. This large-scale project required meticulous planning and execution to achieve a polished and visually stunning result.
Series Concept
The series follows an episodic structure in which Borka can travel back in time and relive two remarkable family stories in each episode. By experiencing these events firsthand, she brings their lessons and discoveries back into her present life, learning directly from her ancestors.
Episodic Structure
The ancestors are recurring characters, but they do not appear in every episode. This approach not only reduces the production burden but also allows for deeper character development, giving each ancestor and their story more time to unfold.
Gateway to the Past
The tree plays a central role in the story and reappears throughout the series in different forms. Serving as a gateway to the past, it connects Borka to the stories of her ancestors and the lessons they carry. Designing and building this iconic element was one of the most enjoyable parts of the project, especially given the many memorable scenes that take place around it. Almost all character animation was created in 3D, while the environments combined both 2D and 3D elements to achieve the final visual style.
