2D Parallax Animation

A one-minute 2.5D cinematic for the Crystalborne mobile game, introducing the main conflict between the natives and a marauder army overrunning their lands.

We handled direction and animation, creating 3D compositions and layouts based on illustrations provided by Pixoloid, one of our long-time partners. We then enhanced the compositions to achieve highly polished, visually striking art pieces.

Pipeline Design

To accelerate production, we used the existing 3D character models to plan the camera work, staging, and scene composition. This allowed us to establish the visual structure of each sequence before moving into the final artwork phase.

3D-to-2D Workflow

These 3D layouts then served as the foundation for the 2D designs, which were drawn directly over the posed characters. This approach helped maintain consistency while significantly streamlining the production process.

Hybrid Workflow

The final visuals were created by combining 2D drawings with 3D camera work. This hybrid approach allowed us to maintain a handcrafted look while streamlining scene planning and production.

FX and Compositing

Once the animation and artwork were complete, we added visual effects, compositing, and color grading to enhance the atmosphere and bring all the elements together into a cohesive final image.
