Marty’s Garden follows the adventures of a boy and his family as they embrace country life, moving to an old countryside home to reconnect with nature in a heartwarming animated series.
As one of our original IPs, Marty's Garden allowed us to oversee the entire production process, from concept development and scriptwriting to the creation of its unique visual identity. The project combined 3D and 2D animation techniques to create a distinctive and engaging visual style, resulting in a fully realized animated series with its own unique character and charm.
The Concept
Marty's Garden is a story about reconnecting with nature—about how a garden can become a playground, a classroom, and a refuge all at once for a child. Through its stories, the series explores how caring for plants teaches patience, attentiveness, and responsibility, while children gradually come to understand the rhythm of the seasons and the delicate balance of the living world.
Story
Marty, the main character of the series, initially struggles to find his place in the countryside. Everything changes when he discovers that he can communicate with certain plants, opening the door to a world of adventure and discovery.
Look Development
We combined 3D character animation with hand-crafted 2D backgrounds, which required us to design and build the entire village during the layout phase to ensure consistency across every shot.
Animation Production
Bringing everything together involved exporting 3D camera data and integrating multiple animation and compositing techniques. In many cases, complex compositing workflows were required to achieve the final visual style.
